2012 Colts Radford Cup Premiers
defeated Brothers 34-29
HILLS Rugby Union Colts fought their way to a deserved 34-29 win over a brave Brothers side to claim the Radford Cupand the minor premiers title on Saturday at Yattenden Oval, Baulkham Hills.
Playing in the NSW Suburban Rugby Union competition, Hills fell behind when the Brothers opened the scoring with a converted try.
But at the restart Hills stole a Brothers' lineout and from the ensuing phases Jamie Kavanagh scored a try with captain Matt Brinnand converting.
Hills received a penalty and Brinnand scored again to put them ahead 10-7.
Then Hills made the most of an attacking Brothers' scrum when Josh Pobjie stole the ball to race 100m to score with aplomb and take the lead 17-7 at half time.
In the second half the Brothers caught up to tie the game at 17-17 but the Hills pressured again and Ben Shelton scored their third try.
With Brinnand converting, Hills led 24-17; the Brothers then scored a try to trail 24-22.
John Cradock scored a try for Hills and with the conversion they led 31-22.
Brinnand kicked in another penalty and Brothers replied with a final try and the match ended with Hills ahead 34-29.
